This doom is clearly indicated in verses 8 and 9. Verse 8 is difficult to understand. What do these words mean: ‘He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you’? The mystery clears up if we understand the Lord Jesus to be speaking about that which God the Father had assigned him to do. He sent him ‘after glory’. He sent him to do one glorious thing, and now that it was accomplished, he was sending him after another glorious thing. The glorious thing that had already been accomplished was
